A.M.
The tile line feature uncovered in K-L(M)/64-65 at a depth of roughly 100-105 cm was cleaned down. Soil was removed from the area near the northern side of K/65 in the same area where the carved antler was found yesterday (7-16-92 #11). Practically no pottery was found in this cleaning although a few more tiles were found. The feature and the whole trench were then photographed.
The cut to 100-105 cm was extended into meters K/65-67. Interestingly, the orangeware concentration noted in L(M)/65-66 all but ceased as the cut completed L(M)/66 and moved into K/66-65. The area of K/67 became rather rocky and little pottery was found here as well.
Pockets of carbon were noted in the northern baulk of K/65. Soil in this meter was darker brown with fewer plaster and carbon inclusions. About 20 small pieces of pottery were found along with several small pieces of plaster.
About a total of 30 small worn pieces of pottery were found in meters K/66-67 and the remaining area of L(M)/66.

P.M.
As excavation of K/66-67 continues northward, a slight soil change has been noticed. Soil becomes darker brown but has heavy concentrations of plaster and carbon inclusions. Furthermore several large stones have been exposed but not removed. These will be drawn tomorrow. Recovery of pottery has dramatically dropped with only worn, sporadic sherds occuring occasionally. The remaining portions of meters K/65-68 will not be excavated with mestilinos and all material left in place as we attempt to define the nature of these stones.
Excavation in meter K/68 to a depth of 100-105 cm reveals that the eastern portion of this meter has soil which is the medium orangy-brown with plaster and carbon inclusions. The stone pack does not extend into this portion of the meter. The western portion of the meter where the stone pack begins, has darker soil and is heavy with plaster inclusions. This darker soil extends into K/67 and down into L(M)/67-68, basically covering the area of this stone concentration. The stone concentration consists of 3 large stones running roughly east-west
over the border of K-L(M) starting in meter 66 and extending partly into 68. Several small stones occur sporadically to the south of these 3 stones. Immediately to the north of the 3 stones is a concentration of 25-30 smaller stones. It is within this area that the soil is dark brown with many plaster inclusions. About 1/10 a cassetto of tile was removed from this area, but very little tile and about 1/3 a latte box of pottery and bone was excavated. All of the pottery was very fragmentary and worn, with the single exception of find #3 from this morning, a moulded impasto rim which came from this area.
