Elevation:  An absolute datum of         was marked with a nail on a tree approximately 20cm. to the south of the trench.  All elevations were taken from a line extended from this point using a line level, plumb bob and meter tape measure, recorded relative to the datum point.

Materials:  All materials will be collected separately for each locus, baulk walls and finds retrieved from stumps.  Absolute depths and coordinates will be taken for all special finds.

Ceramic:

Terracotta:  All terracotta will be collected in bowls with an approximate diameter of 31cm. and approximate height of 8.5cm.  The bowls are filled, sorted and discarded.

Pottery:  All pottery will be collected in latte boxes with the approximate dimensions of 23cm. x 9cm. x 6cm. and retained for later analysis.

Bone:  All bone will be collected in latte boxes and retained.

Metal:  All metal will be collected and retained as special finds.

Glass:  All glass will be collected and retained as special finds.
