Daily Log

June 8, 2001

Preparation work was done on the site, and by the end of the day we had an area approximately 24 x 12 m cleared.  In the process of clearing two noteworthy surface finds were made.  A terracotta ridge tile fragment was found about 10m east of CD-4 (1), near the tree-line.  The other find was a gragment of impasto, found dislodged on the southern wall of CD-4 (2).

Both objects have relatively clean breaks for edges, which would indicate that they probably hadn\'t moved very much from when they were originally deposited.

This weekend I am doing to delve into the McCallum (1979, III) and Wright (1968) to get a sense of what has already been yielded.  I may also attempt a rough topographic survey of the environs of the site, in order to understand better, the run-off patterns of the site (see p. 9 - 10 )
