DAILY LOG
A.M./P.M. 26 July 2013
Locus 14 was declared this morning. This locus covers the same area as locus 13 . The soil is
yellowish-olive brown, and the number of fist-size and smaller stones is increasing. As well, a
large stone is emerging in the NW sector of the locus.
Opening Co-ordinates of locus 14:
NW (69-E/41-S): 94 cm. below datum point = 26.84 m. above absolute elevation.
NE (71-E/41-S): 92 cm. below datum point = 26.86 m. above absolute elevation.
SE (71-E/44-S): 112 cm. below datum point = 26.66 m. above absolute elevation.
SW (69-E/44-S): 116 cm. below datum point = 26.62 m. above absolute elevation.
The SE co-ordinate depth measurement is made on the NW corner of the section of soil left around
the base of the tree in the SE corner.
The soil was fairly moist from rain, therefore excavation was done with trowel and sorting was
done into buckets. Sifting was not attempted due to the moist nature of the excavated soil. The
locus was lowered approximately 5 to 7 cm. today. Approximately 3/4 bowl (16 cm. in diameter/8 cm
in depth) of small well-worn fragments of terracotta was recovered. Approximately 1/3 latte-box
of pottery sherds was found along with 19 bone pieces. Approximately
