THe trench contains multiple small stumps and visible rocks that remain in situ and whose depth is not determined.

A pick pass was done into the western meter of the trench. Small rocks, 5-10 cm in length, are in large amounts in this westernmost meter. A large rock, approx. 42 cm in length has been found, firmly in place in the western baulk. Some mall badly worn pieces of terracotta and a few pieces of pottery were found. While cleaning up the pick pass, two small pieces of iron were recovered (special find #1), but they are possibly modern. Another pick pss was done in the southern half of the western meters, larger rocks than in the north are appearing, approx. 15-20 cm in length. There rocks are resting on the same locus 1 soil. Pieces of the stumps and significant roots are being removed from the trench as they are uncovered.
P.M.
The eastern half of the trench was picked and the soil sorted THe hummus layer remains consistent and contains a heavy amount of organic material. Many rocks continue to be exposed, loose stones are removed. Two of the smaller stumps in the southwest and middle of the trench were completely removed from the trench.
