Description This doorway is framed by ashlars that jut out from the wall; on the west the outset is 0.39 m and on the east the outset is 0.10 m. The doorway is constructed of flat ashlars—mostly sandstone stretchers intermixed with a few headers. This inset is more pronounced at the top than at the bottom. It is sturdy but uneven in its composition. In actual fact, it is not clear if this is a doorway at all. It probably served as the socle for a superstructure. It may, however, have served a specialized bath function. The bath system seems to have been planned as a single unit and it appears that it is on the same axis of orientation as the Great Temple, northwest to southeast. This locus along with others of the bath complex appears to be self-contained elements in an overall design that physically distinguish different areas of the baths.
