Description | Locus 3 was a layer of darker, clay-like soil that covered the entirety of the trench. Like Locus 2, Locus 3 created small clumps when picked. Unlike Locus 2, however, the soil in Locus 3 became very fine when it dried out. The soil was of a lighter color in the south than in the north and it contained several rocks in the southwest meter, as well as a few rocks in the northern meter as a whole. Fragments of terracotta and ceramic were found throughout the Locus. Two pieces of vitrified terracotta and a small fragment of bronze were also unearthed. Additionally, a bronze pin and a flat bronze ribbon fragment were excavated and catalogued as special finds. |
