Size | This east west doorway feature leading into the West Cryptoporticus is comprised of an upper surface of two white sandstone or limestone ashlars set side by side above three lower ashlar courses. The doorjamb, therefore, is four courses in height in the south and two courses in the north. The doorjamb measures 2.21-to-2.25 m in length-by-1.05 m in height-by- 0.435 m in depth. Its base lies 0.87 m below Trench 88 Sub Datum 1 point or at 891.781 m. |

Description | This east doorway jamb consists of two, extant north and south well-worn headers wet laid in plaster. The north block measures 1.02 m in length-by-0.30 0.35 m in width. The larger south block measures 1.73 m in length-by-0.305 m in width. These threshold ashlars overhang the lower courses of the jamb wall by approximately 0.28 m. There are two post holes a north and a south post hole that are carved into the upper surface of the south blockthe south hole is set 0.185 m from its south end and it is situated a bit further back or to the west than its north counterpart. It measures 0.70-0.60 m in length-by an approximate width of 0.305 m. Wooden doors opening inward could be closed and locked when necessary. In front of the doorway is an ashlar entry stone measuring 1.72 in width-by-0.56 m in depth-by-0.15 m in thickness. It is 0.68 m below Trench 88 Sub Datum 1 or at an elevation of 891.971 m. |
