Overlies | Locus 5. |
Description | Locus 4 represents the decorative stucco that was applied to the inner face of the East Corridor Wall. The remaining in situ plaster measures up to 6-7 cm thick in some places. Very little of the stucco, apart from the panels flanking the doorway, remains intact, having been destroyed by falling masonry in antiquity and exposure to the elements over the centuries. Most of the in situ stucco found on the wall was undecorated foundation layering. However, numerous architectural fragments (147 were recovered between 30 June and 17 July) from the stucco wall covering, such as cornices and panels, as well as red, yellow, blue and green painted plaster segments were found in Loci 2 and 3. |
