Condition Light and dark green corrosion is visible upon the surface as well as patches of brown. Fibula is intact except for the pin which is missing.
Description The preserved portion of the fibula consists of three segments, the catchplate, the bow, and the spring, with only the pin missing. The catchplate attaches to the bow at its widest point and tapers to a squared terminal end. The bow is round in section at the attachment point to the catchplate and rounds to the bow. The upper portion of the bow is roughly diamond shaped in section and displays an incised decorative scheme. The decoration consists of a series of opposed diagonals meeting a mutual apexes. At the juncture of the upper set of diagonals, a series of striated lines spans the upper portion of the bow, terminating with a second set of opposed diagonals above the spring. The spring consists of three coils of narrowing aperture.
