Phase | VIII |
Description | A layer consisting of hard-packed soil, plaster and stuck-together, white tesserae, resting on a bedding of small, flat, irregular stones. These components suggest that a possible mosaic decorated this window at some point. It is unclear as to from where the mosaic could have fallen, or, if in situ, why it would have been used to embellish a window sill that was beyond view. |
Stage Description | Disuse and robbing of the upper risers of the West Interior Staircase. |
