Stage Description Cutting and furnishing of the cistern and overlying and connecting canalization.
Stage Stage 1
Description A cut in the natural bedrock to create a massive subterranean cistern, including a shaft in its southeast corner, an opening in the southwest of the ceiling (which seems to be a secondary source of water from a canal to the west of the Upper Temenos East Plaza, but will have to be explored at another time), and a large bedrock column (Locus 6) of 6.73 m in diameter in its southeast quadrant. The walls are coated with hydraulic plaster.
