Stage Stage 2
Stage Description Construction of the East 'Cistern,' the East Perimeter Wall and the laying of the small hexagonal pavement on the temple Forecourt.
Top (m) Opening elevation: Indeterminate.
Description An area of indeterminate width that is thought to be an opening for a stairway to the Lower Market from the Upper Temenos. This is hypothesized because of a well-turned corner in the Locus 2 wall. This area has not been excavated and cannot be definitely called a stairway until explored. It is thought, however, that one of the early uses for this trench was as a passageway from the stairs leading from the 'Lower Market' to the Upper Temenos. It has been placed in this phase because of its relationship to the Locus 2 wall. A later day of excavation indicated that this stairway (risers for which were not found, but which are still thought to exist) was blocked by a wall at a later date.
Phase IV
Bottom (m) Closing elevation: Indeterminate.
Definition Opening for stairs in Locus 2, wall.
