Architectural or Soil Locus? | Soil |
Description | This locus contained larger amounts of rocks, pottery, and architectural fragments than Locus 26, although similar in matrix composition. Among the pottery collected from this Locus, we found one very finely made Nabataean eggshell vase, another complete shallow bowl which was probably used as a lid, and one very large almost complete storage jar, lying very close to the floor. This led us to believe that part of this locus contained occupational debris from the cave, although certainly part of it was washed down. Therefore, the locus consists of a mixture of both, with the occupational debris closest to the bottom. |
