Descriptive Attribute Value(s)
Phase Description Phase Pre-Site Phase I:
Combined with Loci 32, 31, 30.
Stage Description Preconstruction sedimentation.
Architectural or Soil Locus? Soil
Top (m) Opening elevation: highest 890.811 m.
Description A soil stratum consisting of compacted fine silt and sand with a Munsell Color range between 10 YR 5/6 – 5/8 (Yellowish Brown). The layer is only visible in the east and south balks. This appears to be a flood water deposit, the flow of which was from the northeast toward the southwest. The color range suggests a limestone origin for the soil. These latter two characteristics support the probability that the deposit represents material brought in through the wadi from the east (cf. Locus 26). The elevation is lower than the base of the early wall and so the locus is assigned to the pre-construction stage. No material culture was recovered from the stratum.
Location Central sondage, between Loci 3 and 6.
Bottom (m) Closing elevation: lowest 890.561 m.
Underlies Locus 27.
Preserved Height variable, see balk sketches.
Stage Stage 1
Size maximum 1.20 m north south-by-1.10 m east west.
Definition Pre-construction stratum
Phase Pre-Site Phase I
Overlies Loci 30, 31.
