Stage Description Construction of West Walkway wall and floor.
Description Locus 2 had a Munsell Color of 7.5 YR 4/6, or Strong Brown. It consisted of moist, sandy soil with some small pebbles. Pottery inclusions were few, and stucco inclusions seemed to be remnants of the mortar bedding for the payers that had previously been a part of Locus 1 before robbing out. P-2 contained one piece of Nabataean pottery that corresponded to phase 3b-4 of Schmid’s pottery chronology (1st-4th century CE). There were, however, many small, finely cut white and black tesserae, that may be Byzantine or Late Roman. This locus was fill/foundation bedding for the West Walkway Wall (Locus 6), and also filled in the area between the West Walkway Wall and the Platform Boundary (Locus 4).
