Phase Description
Size 1.10 m in north south diameter-by-1.14 m in east west diameter-by-0.86 m in depth.
Description This layer of fill was quite loose and probably represents mostly debris having fallen into the southwest cistern shaft after it became opened during the 2001-2002 winter. A good portion of the shaft was empty above this level (over two meters), and this layer was excavated only until firmer soil was reached. Only one day was spent excavating this fill, which turned up some Nabataean painted wares and a metal nail, but no artifacts of special importance, and had a Munsell color of 7.5YR 4/3 Brown.
Stage Description Continued accumulation of debris in the canalization channels.
Definition Top layer of fill in southwest shaft
Combined with Loci 6 and 7, lower levels of fill in southwest cistern shaft.
