Description This bedding/fill leveled the surface above the Central Arch (Locus 6) in order to support a floor. This locus is best represented on Drawing #18, 1996 (Trench 26, looking north) where the varying thickness of this locus above the Central Arch is illustrated. The layers of leveling fill consist of hewn, sandstone blocks, regularly-placed (2.0 m thick in the western extent of trench and 0.35 m thick in the center above the Central Arch). This leveling is covered by thick, compacted soil, roughly 0.15 m thick, upon which the floor would have rested.
