Stage | Stage 3 |
Description | Located to the south of Locus 1, this deposit is deeper (the lay of the land is a slope) than Locus 1. This is the remaining part of the trench measuring approximately 8 m north-south by an east-west width of 4.07 m. The fine soil is light reddish brown, 5YR 6/3, but as excavation continued it became weak red in color, 2.5YR 5/2, and contained a heavier ashy aspect. Locus 3 was uncovered during the excavation of this locus, but new locus numbers for the north and south sides of Locus 3 were not designated due to the fact that the objectives of the trench had been met. |
Phase Description | Phase XIV: Modern period marked by Bedouin activity and the accumulation of recent debris. |
Definition | Plow and erosion (south end of the trench). |
Bottom (m) | Closing elevation: 898.546 m. |
