Definition | Reddish-brown lens. |
Phase | VIII |
Description | Very small and localized reddish-brown sandy lens, 7.5YR5/6 (strong brown), found in the southwest of the trench within the exedra apse and packed against the architecture. Because of its small size (3.5 m long by 1.1 m wide) it was missed in excavation and only seen later in the south balk. Its artifactual material has been combined with locus 2. It may only represent sandstone decaying from the exedra face, as the lens was loose, sandy, and relatively free of inclusions and artifacts. |
Stage Description | Abandonment and collection of early clean debris. |
Phase Description | Phase VIII: Brief (?) period of abandonment marked by a thin layer of (largely) chocolate brown clean soil. ... |
