Description | The Temple east exterior wall is a massive structure, running north south and preserved to a maximum height of 3.51 m in Trench 62. The exterior face is well-finished, but the interior is roughly finished and consists of undressed stones, cobbles, and chinking set in a thick mortar. There is ample evidence that this rough face was plastered with painted and molded stucco from floor to ceiling (see Locus 42 below). A doorway (Locus 77, below) pierces the wall just opposite the gap between the Loa engaged column and the Deirdre column. This wall and the Inter-Columnar wall added in Stage 2 form the East Corridor area of the Temple. |
