Description | The pan of the tile is of irregular thickness, the two edges around 0.017 m and the center 0.025 m. The edges diminish in thickness from around 0.041 m just above the jog to 0.024 m at the upper edge. Jogs, 0.020 m by 0.070 m are cut into the outer faces of the sides at their lower edges. All four ends diminish sharply in their height. The jogs, when two tiles are side by side, form a rectangular space around 0.040-0.050 m by 0.070 m which preserves the thinned upper sides of the two tiles below. The upper and lower edges of the tiles, when placed one above the other are not excessively thick because they have been intentionally thinned. |
Fabric Description | Coarse clay with numerous impurities including stones and mica. Fired reddish orange. |
