Description | Sandstone staircase leading from the east adytus maximus floor to the pulpitum floor, west of the square niche and east of the east pulpitum staircase (see below). It is constructed in a different manner from the east staircase and the two staircases on the west it uses the wall of the pulpitum as a middle step, and has a separate lower step (the other staircases use the pulpitum curb as the lower step). Also, it has five steps total; the other three staircases have only four. The staircase is preserved to a height of 1.30 m, and each step is approximately 0.65 m wide, 0.24 m high, and 0.24 m deep. The sandstone treads are worn and heavily weathered. |
