Location The north boundary of the landing pavers (Locus 1).
Description This locus was the north boundary of the landing pavers. It represents the outer face of the Propylaeum, and is composed of dressed and hewn sandstone/limestone ashlars. From the south, the east portion above the exposed landing pavers consists of 1 course of two stones set on 0.20 m of rubble and dirt fill. The west portion has three courses extant, resting upon the rubble and dirt fill. The fill is contiguous with the rubble/soil fill beneath the Roman Steps (Locus 11), and this locus is part of the same construction stage as the steps.
