Description This SU explores whether the reddish soil visible to the north extends throughout the whole area in which we are working. We are still in fill material as the context remains the same—mainly ceramics, though some charcoal flecks are found in this SU too and an intensely small bit of plaster—still, this is material found throughout the fill in varying quantities, perfectly sensible given what we now know of the floor and wall dates.

We come down on some stones in SE, which could represent a wall. Further exc. show they are floating in our fill too.

We come down on red soil throughout and SU closed. This is presumably the end of the Byzantine fill.
