Description 7.5 YR 4/6 (strong brown). Soil/debris layer of mixed ancient and modern materials. Topsoil in Trench 62 had been polluted with contemporary debris, and refuse from the Great temple excavations, since this area had been used as a dump for trenches in the south of the temple. The top half meter or so could also be attributed to bulldozer operations, and the soft powder the 'dozer drags with it wherever it goes. Here, hundreds of architectural fragments were found side by side with Coke cans, rifle cartridges, old shoes, and debris from the excavation (including sand bags and PK nails).
