Munsell Color 10YR 2/2 very dark brown
Description Locus 7 consisted of the humous layer in a previously unexcavated area in the southwestern corner of the trench. The soil was dark brown in color and was itself fairly loose but was held in place by a dense network of grass roots; additionally, there were some smaller rocks situated in the locus. Locus 7 contained very small amounts of terracotta roofing tile and pottery and no bone was recovered from this locus. Locus 7 was an extremely shallow soil package, measuring only approximately 5-10 cm in depth. As this locus was topsoil, a mixture of ancient and modern materials were recovered, indicating that this locus was not a contextually sound deposit. Locus 7 is equivalent to Loci 1, 2, and 9.
