Descriptive Attribute Value(s)
Definition North Large Ashlar Foundation
Location In the North balk.
Size 0.90 m east west.
Description The two large (width is indeterminate) dry laid and dressed ashlars seem to provide a deep foundation for the overlying structures. The curious construction of both Loci 29 and 30 create a space in-between the constructions of 0.80 m. east west-by-0.32 m north south gap that is not a channel. It appears the large ashlars were laid as a platform for the construction of the further architectural elements. The difficult problem in relation to these ashlars is their comparative construction technique – monumental and ostensibly Nabataean based on the diagonal dressing and the completely different dry-laid fieldstone wall above these that does not appear to be a Nabataean construction.
