Description | North-south wall, composed of sandstone, ashlar blocks (ca. 1.8 m thick) and incorporating columns of the inner colonnade. The outer facing blocks are nicely-dressed, while the inner stones, almost all hewn or unhewn, are pitifully laid. In its northernmost 1m portion, the wall changes character; the west portion becomes Locus 10 sloping wall (in theory, to support an arch sprung from it to Locus 9 sloping wall), while the balk of Locus 18 wall continues northward. Due to time constraints this northeast corner of the trench was not excavated, so little more can be projected about this wall. |
