Description | Well-built retaining/facing wall of sandstone blocks, preserved now only to a height of two courses but postulated to have originally extended the full height of the Theatron, and serving to hold the Theatron fill to its south (and now exposed due to the wall collapse; see above). It would have abutted the Deirdre Column on the east. Originally, it was thought that the curb (Locus 21) was the lowest course of this retaining wall, but excavation uncovered the earlier wall behind. |
