Description Large rough hewn blocks were the major feature of this locus which were used in order to make a flat bedding for the construction of the floor of the Settling Tank. A loose but uniform layer of hydraulic cement remains was interspersed with this bedding that was likely used to fortify the floor of the Settling Tank from seepage. A uniform sample of painted Nabataean fineware from Phase IIIb (70/80-100 CE) was found underneath the Locus 2—East Wall providing a terminus post quem for the construction of the Settling Tank.
