Description | Locus 3 was a light brown soil that was heavily mottled with flecks of orange, white, and black. The orange and black were reflective of the terra cotta and carbon (respectively) that were found throughout the Locus. There were three stumps, one in the northwestern corner, one in the southwestern corner, and one in the second meter by four meter section from the north, although the latter was eventually removed. Relatively worn fragments of terra cotta and pottery were found throughout the Locus. One piece of bronze was found. The most prominent feature, however, was the rock packing, which covered the extent of the trench. Locus 3 existed on a slope, with the northern corners standing between 0.6 and 0.7 m. A.E. higher than the southern corners |
