Definition | East West Stylobate/Threshold Foundation |
Description | A stylobate or threshold foundation extending east west between the foundations of the Pierre Anta and the Temple East Exteior Wall, approx. 2.70 m long-by-1.60 m wide. Although it abuts these features, it is assigned to Phase I because it is almost identical in construction technique with Locus 73 (stylobate of the interior colonnade): it is built of hewn (but unfinished) oblong limestone blocks with mud mortar and smaller stones between. Most of this feature was in fact excavated in previous seasons; only the southern edge falls within Trench 62. |
