Description |
SU 7031 contains architectural fall debris from area south of wall stub/door jamb 7026_f1 to the southern extent of our trench (c. 169.00 N). This layer extends into the southern scarp and is directly below 7027. It contains soft, loose, slightly granular (sand-gravel) with very large fragments of tile and thin (3 cm thick) gypsum of floor fragments sticking vertically down into the till. Purpose of excavation here was to determine whether or not there is a surface on the southern side of the door jamb/wall stub at the approx same level as that on the northern side (which is at the elevation 7.19), [surface 7032_f1] which was left by the DOA excavations in this area we determined that his fill continues down well below this level, likely to around the same level as the surface in SU 13 (which is at the elevation of 6.65). [7114_f1] Excavation of this SU was stopped because we do not have time to finish this task during this season.
