Description | A later blocking wall in the west part of the trench, strung between (and abutting) the north face of the south cryptoporticus wall of the Propylaeum and the south face of the (postulated but not yet excavated) middle cryptoporticus wall. It is constructed of rectangular sandstone blocks, evenly laid but weathered. The wall carries the vault features described below. It is clearly later than the Stage 1 architecture and earlier than the intentional fills (see Stage 3 below), but its specific stratigraphic relationships must remain temporarily unknown because it has not been fully excavated. |
