Description | Fragment of an impasto handle, preserving smooth lateral sides, which taper slightly upwards but broken irregularly both above and below. Both wide surfaces show decoration. On the surface which is slightly convex in profile, there is a series of parallel, horizontal lines formed by a continuous chain of short, incised diagonal slashes; nine of these lines exist. Above the horizontal lines, particularly at the left corner, one can see the beginnings of deep vertical grooves, of which at least three, possibly four, are visible. On the flat side, whose profile is slightly concave, there are the remnants of three deep grooves running vertically and parallel. |
