Title | Banquet Frieze Plaque, Fragment from Left Edge |
Description | This piece preserves the right hand seated figure on the right hand couch. This is the first fragment to provide a definite picture of the lyre which the figure holds. The lyre consists of a tortoise shell from which spring two curved uprights, connected near their tops by a horizontal cross piece. The bottom of the lyre rests on the figure's lap and he supports it with his right hand at the left of the upright. |
