Title Frieze Plaque, Procession, Fragment of Lower Left Edge
Description Two women, followed by two horses walk left. The upper break cuts through the first woman's upper arm, passes up through the second woman's head, circles above the horses' heads and backs and cuts through their bodies in front of their hindquarters. The front legs of the near horse rest on the ground while one leg of the rear horse is raised and bent at the knee. The reins may be indicated by a raised line which follows the back of the front horse and terminates at a point half way up his neck. At this point, either the mane had been gathered into a knot or part of the harness is indicated. The bridle is barely preserved on the noses of the horses. A small stud is also seen on the neck of the front horse. Note the manner in which the major areas of the upper front quarter of the near horse are indicated; the thin ankles; bell-like hooves and long slender body. Below, a guilloche.
