Daily Log

Today work continued in Rectangle 10. The test cut (A/1-5) [p. 18] was completed to 30cm deep. The soil removed was very rocky and virtually devoid of pottery. Grid A/5 was then excavated ~25cm deeper and a layer of soft dark brown earth was found. In this layer were ~1-2 strawberry box of pottery.

The area W of the dike (E-F/11-5) was cleared in most areas ~15-25cm deeper. The earth here is rather soft & brown. About 2 boxes of pottery were found ( and the spindle whorl).
