The cut into H-I-J36 was completed showing that the wall originating in M36 continues north through thse grids (depth 80cm). The burn layer continues at this point to be above the stone fundations. The tile fragments (3 boxes) and fragments of potterys (4 cartons) were normal quantitiy, but the tile came basically from the yellow soil above the burn layer and the pottery from the burn layer itself.
The grids H-I-J 34-36 were further lowered below the burn layer to a depth 85-100 cm. The soil beneath the burn layer was a yellow, often with small gray or bronw patches, soil whcih has a consistency of flakeable stone. Almost totally barren of any obejcts except fro a bronze ring., one small fragment of red ware, and some pan-tile fragments.
