A whole pan-tile, in grid I/9-10, was removed this morning as well as a neighboring akroteria fragment. A variety of terracotta chunks surrounded the pan-tile in an area south of a concentrated rock packing in grid I-J/9-10 [ see photographs opposite page ].
Grid K-L/6-7 was also excavated to an approximate depth of 80cm. A variety of pottery, including bucchero, Italo-Corinthian fragments and
pieces of painted Ionic ware, were found at this level consisting of a layer of dark brown soil. A terracotta crucible fragment, with slag encrustations, was discovered in K-7 and a terracotta animal ear fragment was found in J/6-7.
