The fourth cut was continued in meters J/82-83.  The soil changes in these meters from hard yellow-brown to a rich dark brown.  A tile concentration exists in these meters at this depth, roughly 50 cm below the northern baulk at J/82.  Among this tile concentration in J/83 were large fragments of pottery, particularly coarseware, which preserved their lips.  Finer pottery was also found here however.  Ivory, too, was found (see find #1).  J/84 also produced large quantities of red and coarseware fragments.  It is clear that many joins will be found w/ these fragments.  Manhy have found on site already.  Bronze too was found, including too tacks in J/84 J/83-84 produced 4 1/2 latte boxes of pottery.

The cut was continued in J/84-85.  Tile exists in J/84 in abundance.  Plaster is also present.  the tiles here lie flat on the trench floor, generally.  One and one half cassetta of tile were found.  Some tiles were left in situ.

J/83 was taken down another 10 cm roughly.  Like this morning, quantities of coarse orangeware were found.  Tile is present as well.  Bronze pieces were also found.  Soil has become slightly more red and carbon chunks are more common than at higher levels.  Another bronze nail was found, as well.  A complete flate base of a coarseware pot ( 19890127
