Continued clearing around the stump in T-U/54. Approximately 10-15 cm of dirt surrounded the stump in meters T-U/54-55. A 10-15 cm layer cut in the east side of T-U/55 brought the trench even with the previous level of excavation in meters T-U/56-58. Minimal amounts of pottery and pan tile fragments were found. The soil in this area was dense with pockets of gray schyst, organic material, and a red cast.
Work began in emters V/55-56 clearing the rocks and roots from beneath the tree standing on the baulk. Minimal amounts of tile fragments were found.
A 5-8 cm cut was begun in meters V/53-55. The soil here is very hard packed and gray. A possible lateral sima attachment was found in V/54 at 40 cm
from the relative groundline.
Two pieces of tile were recovered from the dump. One was a piece of flange with a fingermark and possible inscribed letter; the other, a piece of pan tile with a possible alpha inscribed.
