clearly the mud wall (H., c. 0.50 m.; W., 1.15 m.) over the foundation wall ( see TG, Book 2, pp.69, 105 Tr. 1U ), which was exposed and cleaned for a distance of 0.70m. The wall itself consists of one course, 0.90 m. wide, with one or two tiles laid over the foundation.
Section C- Fill was removed to above the tile layer. Found: two fragments of horserace frieze (#5,#6).
Section D- The north-south foundation wall was cleaned for 7.0m. Along its length, and the east-west
crosswall (see
Tr. 5A) exposed for 0.60m along its length. Both walls are 0.85m wide and lonly one course high with a few pieces of pottery and tile in the wall. There appeared to be traces of a mud wall over the east-west wall, but its outline could not be distinguished clearly. Thus a room is defined as follows (see ): 5.40m total width, from the inside of the north wall to the inside of the south wall. The wall is divided into three parts: (1) 1.85m from the inside of the north wall to the opening; (2) 1.70m wide opening; and (3) 1.85m from the south end of the opening to the inside of the south wall.
