Excavated in the Northern quarter of L4. To the east of L24, 25 we found a hard" surface" of small pebbles and very hard soil (L35), very mixed, leading into L29 (not yet excavated). This area is small 80x60 cm and unlike any surface we have found before. This might be the end of the drain from furnace L20, or some other metalworking feature.

We then pushed down in L29 between 22 and 2 cm looking for continuation to the formation and also the structure and continuation of debri from the L20 complex. We found lots of mudbricks and an animal burrow (a T shape) that possibly connects with the one found in L31. We also found slag (KT 69).

In locus 20 we cleared some loose debri from the arm between L28 and 27, trying to find the true shape of the furnace.

We then cleaned some more debri from L26, 25 and 24. In L25 we found slag (KT23) and in L24 we found much slag (KT26).

Next we cleaned more L14 debri (near L29), finding only soil and mudbrick debri.

We continued in L4, designating the jumbled "wall" of stones in the far NE L34. Near this we found two obsidian blades (KTs 93 and 94). We cleaned and photoed this area, although it is so jumbled and near the surface that we may not learn much from it.

~20 cm in L31 revealed not much to the south except an animal burrow but did find what appears to be a new surface in the NW (new locus to be opened soon).
