In section D, the east-west crosswall appearing to define the southern end of the agger wing was found to be only partially intact; it exteneded for 2.25 m from twhere it was estimated to meet the western wall, but remailing 4 m. contained to meet the western wall, but the remaining 4m contained only scattered stones, and the meeting with the eastern wall was completely missing,  THe rest of the tile layer was cleared, and about 10 more boxes dumped.

An attempt was then made to share down the mud wall over the stone foundation at the northern end of section D (see plan p. 50 ).  Tile was especially heavey, with almost 30 boxes produced from both sides of the wall, but no finds.  The shaving failed to produced any clear distinction: the north side cut into the mud wall and on the south caly was still looking found when we cut in over the stones.  However, the north profile did not show thin, horizontal red bands, indicating that the wall was constructed in layers.

The mud wall in section B was shaved across the top in order to distinguish between the mud and the

clay.  This also was unsuccessful and so the sides were left unshaved.

Lastly, an attempt was made to uncovere the rest of the western wall.  Here a line of agger stones was encountered at a distance of 5.80-6.30m west of the eastern wall and extending out beyond the estiated western edge of the wall. Theis line thus covered most of the wall; in addition it tilted downward from east to west and seemed to merge with the wall at its western edge.  The stones were therefore left undisturbed and consequently the width of the western wall and its exact placement are uncertain.  Nor is it clear if the wall does in fact stop at the southernmost crosswall in section D.
