A.M. Photos taken
The rocks in meters S 27-28 E 136-138 were drawn and photographed in preparation for removal.
In meters S25-26, E 137 the last of the LOCUS 10, medium brown soil with heavy carbon and plaster inclusions, was removed. It extended in this area to a depth of approximately 78-79 cm. and as deep as 81 cm. in some spots. 1/6 of a latte of pottery and bone, and 12-15 very small bits of plaster and terra cotta (1-2 cm.). Also from LOCUS 10 in this area were an incised bucchero fragment (#1) and a fragment of Greek ceramic (#2).
After the LOCUS 10 soil was removed work was begun removing the LOCUS 12 soil beneath it in meters S 25-26 E 137 and lowering it to a depth consistent with that in meters S 25-26 E 136. Recovery of materials will be recorded in the afternoon for LOCUS 12.

Work continued in S 25-26 E 137. The medium brown slightly greenish soil of LOCUS 12 was excavated to a depth of approximately 85-87 cm b.d. Below this the soil seemed much darker brown, but still with a greenish cast and some carbon. It was decided to segregate material from this soil and it was designated as LOCUS 13. Several large stones were exposed, including one extending into the northern baulk ( approx. 85 cm long). Beneath the LOCUS 13 soil, expecially in the area of S 26, E 137 in the west portion, a reddish brown clayey soil began to appear. The area was leveled to approximately 90 cm. b.d.
From LOCUS 12 2/3 of a latte box of pottery and bone were recovered, with 13 fragments of tile and plaster; also one piece of plaster with a finished surface, which was sitting upright in the soil with the flat surface on top (#3).
From LOCUS 13, 1/2 latte box of pottery and bone, and 12 fragments of plaster and tile were recovered. As were 3 impasto rims (#4, 5, 6) and a piece of bronze (#7).
