Work began in grids S-T/54-56. Topsoil was removed to a depth of 20 cm below surface. Earth is brown and loose. Only a few tile fragments were found. Large stumps exist in these grids, as does one tree. Photographs were taken.
52/V-W was cleaned further, bringing these grids down to southeast building floor level. One rocchetto head was found. Earth here continues to be rich in plaster.
Plaster pack seems to run, at this depth (roughy 85-90 cm below surface), at least until the rock line (see map on p. 63). It appears that west of the rock line, only dirt is present. These western grids have yet to be taken down to the floor level however.
One tall latte box of pottery came from 52/V-W at day's end.

A second cut to roughly 40 cm was started in grids S-T/54-56. Soil in this cut was similar to that found in the first, but with pockets of yellow soil also. Tile and pottery were found, but not in abundance. This cut was completed only in S-T/56 and halfway into grid 55.
