Metal Summary
Metals were scarse in CA41. The total number of metal pieces uncovered was 10.
4 iron objects were found. Two of them (Find #1, p. 21) were found in locus 2 and most probably are modern. One wsa recovered from locus 4 (Find # 1, p. 59) and probably is a part of a knife blade. Last iron object was found in locus 11 (Find # 7, p. 75) and had a flat bent shape.
All iron objects were oxidized but relatively well preserved.
Bronze finds included 6 pieces. $ amorphous pieces were found, including 2 in locus 2 (Find # 2, p. 21 and Find # 1, p. 39), 1 in locus 5 (Find # 1, p. 51),
and 1 in locus 11 (Find # 2, p. 93). Also 2 finished bronze objects were recovered. A piece of bronze sheet with 2 straight finished edges (Find #2, p. 51) was found in locus 5. A small decorated object, possibly a part of a fibula or other cosmetic implement, (Find #1, p. 719 was recovered in locus 4.
A possible crucible fragment was found in locus 2 (Find #1, p.11). All bronze objects still preserved solid bronze and were generally in a good condition. Allmetal finds were recovered from olive brown soil in CA41.
