Work by hand around the rocks and tile in L/96 proceeded slowly to the south, to an approximate depth of 25 cm.  Tile pieces and small rocks that were inadvertantly loosened were removed (less than 1/4 cassetta tile); all others were left in place.  Five pieces of pottery were removed.

Cleaning of the baulks in G/90-92 was completed.  One box of pottery and 1/2 cassetta of tile pieces were recovered.

The cut to trench floor level in F/94 was completed.  Three boxes of pottery and

1/2 a cassetta of tile were found, including at least one piece of stamped fineware (Find #7).

Some sorting of the tiles reserved from the tile fall was started, preliminary to discarding the less important tile pieces.  During this process, four full-width cover tiles were discovered (Finds #2-5).

L/96 continued to be cleaned around the rocks and tiles.  Few pieces of pottery and bone were recovered, as were several pieces of tile.

The cut in F-G/94 was extended into F-G/93.  These meters showed the same vein of pottery along the F-G border previously seen and noted ( see MRS II ), which explains the large amounts of pottery and bone found in the area (2 1/2 boxes of pottery).  Soil shows major signs of burning - discoloration, carbon flecks, etc. -

but much of the deposit in the soil appears to be unburnt.  One half of a cassetta of tile was recovered, as were several pieces of pithos.

20 cassette of tiles from the tile fall were checked for possible finds pieces and discarded.

The rocks which lay below the main tile fall were photographed.
